The story

Shelley Tichborne founded mou on London’s famous Portobello Road in 2002 with the aim of creating a distinctive, luxury shoe as an antidote to the stresses of fast-paced modern life. Popular with designers and passing shoppers, the brand has since become increasingly popular through word of mouth. Today, mou’s comfortable boots, worn by global entertainers such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Cameron Diaz, have a distinctive, edgy look and unconventional attitude. Classic mou styles include the antelope cowboy boot, calfskin slippers, eskimo, Nanuk and goatskin.

Mou is the polar opposite of fast fashion. In our collection, at least 95% of the materials are derived from natural fibres and, whenever possible, we choose biodegradable, recycled and/or recyclable materials that do not generate hazardous waste or deplete natural resources, always avoiding by-products of other industries. A true labour of love, each mou piece is designed to last, with soles and finishes that age slowly while retaining their beauty. Running a sustainable, ethical and profitable business is a careful balancing act. Our efforts are a work in progress: we constantly evaluate where we stand and challenge ourselves to do better.
